Welcome to Skills-In-Hand, a learning institute dedicated to the practice of manual medicine. We offer Musculoskeletal Functional Assessment Courses and Soft Tissue Courses. Manual medicine may be defined differently (according to the profession describing it for legal purposes) to state what is permitted within a practitioners scope of practice. At Skills-In-Hand, we tend to look at it from an integrated perspective, which includes the professions that rely heavily upon touch or contact to effect treatment (i.e., chiropractors, physiotherapists, athletic therapists, etc.). Simply, we define manual medicine as a clinical approach utilizing skilled and specific hands-on techniques to assess and treat musculoskeletal dysfunction.

We offer continuing education for accredited healthcare practitioners, bridging the gap between academia and clinical practice, by teaching musculoskeletal functional assessment, and sport specific assessment and treatment utilizing soft tissue, joint mobilization and contemporary medical electro-acupuncture techniques.

Our Musculoskeletal Functional Assessment Courses and Soft Tissue Courses and workshops feature lectures, discussions and activities for small groups to facilitate a hands-on learning environment. Yes, our instructors do present or lecture as an essential part of each course/workshop, but we allot as much time as possible for case observation and hands-on practice to encourage rapid development, acquisition and application of skills.

“Knowledge is only valuable when it is applied with excellence and can be called skill. Manual medicine practice is definitely skill-based. Achieving successful clinical results is all about how well you, the practitioner, skillfully apply what you know.”
